CONATEL Issues Key Resolution, Paving the Way for 5G Technology Applications
On January 22, 2025, Paraguay's National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) issued Resolution No. 0148/2025, amending the National Frequency Allocation Plan (PNAF). This amendment aims to provide spectrum resources for the development of 5G fixed wireless access services.
Key Changes
Allows the use of fixed wireless access systems in the 3300-3700 MHz band
Divides the band into eight 50 MHz sub-bands for mobile services
Confirms the frequency range for IMT systems, cellular mobile phone systems, and internet access and data transmission systems
Resolution Background
This decision is based on the previously approved tender documents for mobile phone and internet service licenses in the 3500 MHz band, which explicitly allow the use of 5G technology for fixed wireless access services.
