1. Requirements for Mobile Phones, Tablets, and Mobile Computers.
General Requirements:
Compliance with applicable CITC technical specifications.
Type approval applications accepted only through the device manufacturer.
Device samples may be required for testing.
Responsibility of the manufacturer for testing and confirmation from Saudi mobile network operators before type approval.
Declaration of major effect SW update required before deploying significant software updates.
Technology Requirements:
LTE (4G) support as a minimum.
Strong encouragement for 5G NR, eSIM, WiFi 6, and WiFi 6e (5.925 – 7.125 GHz).
Frequency Requirements:
Mandatory support for specific LTE and 5G NR frequency bands.
Voice Services Requirements:
Support for VoLTE and VoWiFi.
Strong encouragement for VoNR and ViNR.
Emergency Communications Services Requirements:
Support for Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) and Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency communication service.
2. Requirements for Mobile Routers and CPEs:
General Requirements:
Compliance with applicable CITC technical specifications.
Possible requirement for device samples.
Technology Requirements:
Minimum support for LTE (4G) and WiFi 6.
Strong encouragement for 5G NR and WiFi 6e.
Frequency Requirements:
Mandatory support for specific LTE and 5G NR frequency bands.
3. Requirements for Cellular IoT Devices:
General Requirements:
Compliance with applicable CITC technical specifications.
Tracking devices usage restricted to registered Tracking Services providers.
Compliance with IoT Regulatory Framework.
Technology Requirements:
Minimum support for LTE (4G), NB-IoT, or LTE-M.
Frequency Requirements:
Mandatory support for specific LTE/NB-IoT/LTE-M frequency bands.
