BSMI Certification Overview
BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection) certification is a mandatory conformity assessment required in Taiwan for both imported and locally manufactured products. It ensures compliance with national safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards based on CNS regulations.
Common certification schemes include Registration of Product Certification (RPC), Type-Approved Batch Inspection (TABI), and Declaration of Conformity (DoC), depending on the product type.
BSMI certification applies to a wide range of products such as electronics, household appliances, toys, and machinery. Products must be tested by BSMI-accredited laboratories and, upon approval, must display the BSMI mark as proof of compliance.
Only a Taiwan-based entity can act as the local applicant, and certificates are typically valid for three years with a possible one-time renewal.
