Hong Kong’s OFCA Publishes 2025–2027 Spectrum Release Plan
On 10 July 2025, the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) released its Spectrum Release Plan (SRP) for 2025–2027, outlining spectrum availability for public mobile and innovative wireless services.
Key Planned Releases
- 2.5–2.6 GHz band (50 MHz): Reassignment for mobile/fixed wireless starting in 2025, following expiry of existing assignments in May 2028.
- 39.5–43.5 GHz band (4 GHz): New release in 2026–2027 for mobile/fixed wireless applications.
- 1.43–1.444 GHz band (14 MHz): Proposed for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in 2025.
Auction & Consultation Framework
- Assignments may proceed via open bidding or tender after industry consultation.
- OFCA reserves the right to adjust plans based on market conditions.
